Sushant Singh Rajput’s Kai Po Che performance showed that star was born, says producer Ronnie Screwvala

In tragic news, actor Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14 at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. He was only 34 years old and died of suicide. As tributes have started pouring in for the actor, celebrities and fans are remembering his work.

Ronnie Screwvala, the producer of RSVP Films, bankrolled Sushant’s debut film, Kai Po Che. The actor went onto star in many of his productions including Son Chiriya and Kedarnath. All roles were diverse and showcased his versatility. The filmmaker took to Twitter to pay condolence and wrote, “From the youthful, energetic, give it all you got in #KaiPoChe to your endearing soulful performance in #Kedarnath to the gritty raw & engaging role in #Sonchidiya – it’s been memorable working together -still reeling from the news-RIP @itsSSR – find the peace you were looking for.”

He spoke to a daily stating that Kai Po Che was a memorable experience because he was at his bindaas best in it. Ronnie said that he was super confident and talented. The filmmaker revealed that the actor gave all to the role and that a star was born.

Ronnie recalled meeting him again during Kedarnath which was a launchpad for Sara Ali Khan. It was the second time he worked with Abhishek Kapoor after Kai Po Che, as well. Ronnie spoke to Sushant about his role and reflected on his past and his high. They met again during Son Chiriya and Sushant admitted that it was by far the toughest role he had played. The producer further revealed how their recent conversations revolved around astronomy and science. Ronni Screwvala said that Sushant had no regrets and hoped he finds the peace that he was looking for.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s family arrived from Patna to perform the last rites at Pawan Hans Crematorium on Monday, June 15.
