Milind Soman shares his controversial 25-year-old photoshoot, wonders what would be the reaction today

By | May 18, 2020

Among the many unconventional work Milind Soman has done, his controversial photoshoot with model and former girlfriend Madhu Sapre is one. 25 years ago, the duo posed nude for a footwear brand ad, wearing nothing but two pairs of shoes and a snake wrapped around their necks.

The photo is talked about, even today, and we can only imagine how much ahead of time it must have been, in 1995. Milind took to his Instagram to share it with us once more on the occasion of the ad completing 25 years. “Keep seeing this pop up on my timelines every once in a while 🙂 its 25 years old, at that time no social media no internet either I think ! wonder what the reaction would have been if it had been released today,” he wrote.

This commercial, shot for Tuff Shoes, is considered one of the boldest advertisements shot in the 90’s and will probably be in the list of most courageous advertisements of all times, shot in India. It went on to receive plenty of flaks after it released. Producer Atul Kasbekar dropped a comment on Milind’s post, saying how a bunch of moral police apparently was in favour of arresting photographer PD Gupta who took the photo.

Milind, who has been rather picky about his work lately, was last seen in Four More Shots Please.
