Mira Nair’s upcoming six-part series, A Suitable Boy, stars Tabu, Ishaan Khatter, and Tanya Maniktala in lead roles. With an unconventional script, the story is based on Vikram Seth’s namesake novel and is surely one of the most looked-forward-to projects. In the series, Ishaan Khatter will be seen romancing Tabu. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Ishaan Khatter talks about his experience working with Tabu.
Talking about romancing and sharing screen with Tabu, Ishaan said, “I think what I realised is I seek out challenging experiences and I seek out experiences that would give me an opportunity to grow. I couldn’t think of a better experience than having a one-to-one equation and a working relationship with one of my favourite actresses of our cinema. So I think I get much more excited than nervous and I couldn’t wait. I remember we had this first reading we had together was with Mira di at this house in town in South Mumbai. It was wonderful. It felt very right. I felt that this is what I should be doing. It felt like there is a wonderful synergy between the three of us. And how lucky, I mean not many actors can get the opportunity to share so much screen time in such a unique way with one of the legends of our time.”

Ishaan, in the film, will be playing Maan Kapoor, a young and free-spirited boy who gradually gets into a notional conflict with his politician father. Ishaan’s character develops an attraction to the beautiful courtesan Saaeda Bai (essayed by Tabu).
