Action, drama, and redemption, all packaged into one never-seen-before experience: Netflix Film, Extraction, promises to be an action-packed ride, as revealed today. Chris Hemsworth stars as a mercenary in the film. The actor was in India last year to shooting majority of the portions of the film. He filmed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat amid much fanfare.
Speaking about his experience of shooting in India for the first time to Entertainment Weekly, he said, “It was certainly new to me — and incredibly immersive. It gave a grit and reality that we couldn’t have reproduced. And there was no acting needed with the exhaustion and discomfort that the characters were feeling, because it was as hot as it gets, and there was no luxury available. We were in the thick of it.”
Director Sam Hargrave said that it was unlike anything other experience. “It was unlike anything I’d ever experienced. Part of Joe’s genius was setting a big Western action film in a location that most people haven’t seen or been to, so it immediately has this beautiful, intriguing, and mysterious quality to it.”
He further praised Hemsworth for it as not a lot of people would have agreed to shoot under harsh conditions. “And I think that speaks to Hemsworth’s commitment. A lot of people would not have done what he did, and he did it with a smile,” he told EW.
Extraction traces the journey of Tyler Rake who is a fearless black market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of Rake and the boy. An action-packed, edge-of-your-seat thriller directed by Sam Hargrave,
Extraction is an AGBO Films and TGIM Films, Inc. production, produced by Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Mike Larocca, Chris Hemsworth, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, David Harbour, Golshifteh Farahani, and Indian actors Priyanshu Painyulli, Randeep Hooda, Rudraksh Jaiswal, and Pankaj Tripathi.
