There are few stars as big as Amitabh Bachchan, in not just Bollywood but Indian cinema itself. You’ve most likely seen on social media how Bachchan, who enjoys an unmatched fan following, writes letters to young actors when he likes their films, and they’re always looking forward to this very special bit of appreciation.

The megastar, himself, has been no less of a fanboy, though. He happened to be a huge admirer of legendary actor Dilip Kumar. Whether you believe it or not, Big B waited for 46 long years before he could get an autograph from Dilip Kumar!

Reportedly, he and his parents Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan once landed in the same Mumbai hotel as Kumar, but could not reach him owing to the massive crowd. Years later, in a party hosted by late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, he stumbled upon not just Kumar but also legends like Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand. However, the autograph did not happen!

It finally did happen, in 2005. Dilip Kumar and wife Saira Banu came to attend the premier of Bachchan’s much acclaimed film Black, also starring Rani Mukerji. Mesmerized by his performance, Kumar wrote a letter to Bachchan, along with an autograph!

Bachchan, in his blog, had shared how his joy knew no bound when his favourite actor’s autograp was finally in front on him, on a letter!
